Leonard Nimoy Hanging Up His Vulcan Ears For Good

Spock's journey has come to an end as Leonard Nimoy has announced that he is retiring from acting, IGN reported Tuesday. This means that he will not reprise his role as Spock Prime in the sequel to 2009's Star Trek. Some of you may be wondering about Nimoy's role in Fringe, but he has concluded his tenure on the show.

"I want to get off the stage. Also, I don't think it would be fair to Zachary Quinto," Nimoy said of his successor in the role of the USS Enterprise's Vulcan first officer. "He's a terrific actor, he looks the part, and it's time to give him some space. And I'm very flattered the character will continue."

Nimoy's retirement also means that he will no longer be actively involved with conventions and fan events.

Yup, he's hanging up his Vulcan ears for good. We wish Leonard Nimoy a happy retirement and that he may "live long and prosper."
